If you like and enjoy regular Scrabble, you will love Super Scrabble. But – be sure to get the deluxe version because the regular Super Scrabble lacks the much-needed raised grid. Turntable is a little funky, but it’s still great fun to play.

Take the challenge of building words anywhere you go. This Scrabble game travels in first-class style with an all-inclusive, soft-sided zipper case. The Folio Edition makes this word game easy to play, simple to put away and a snap to pack. Perfect for plane rides or road trips, this compact classic has tightly fitting tiles that won’t fall out. You can even pack up in the middle of a game and come back to it without disturbing the tiles. Game includes zipper case with gameboard, 100 plastic snap-in letter tiles, four plastic tile racks, score pad and cloth leather pouch. For 2 to 4 players. Measures approximately 6.5″ x 2.5″ x 10.5″ when folded up.
The best thing about this version of the Scrabble game is that you can literally play it anywhere. The tiles are a bit difficult to handle so you have to be a little careful with them, but this little baby is small and packs easily. I have played it a lot on planes and have taken it on vacation with me to play with people when I get bored. Its portability is its best feature. Just be careful not to lose the tiles.
The centerpiece of the Onyx Edition Scrabble is the elegant black rotating game board, featuring a silver playing surface. In addition to its stunning appearance, the board enhances the playing experience by turning on a built-in stand to allow a clear look for all contestants. A raised grid holds the tiles – made of black wood with silver embossing – firmly in place as the board rotates. Other matching elements include a unique timer with black sand, a black velvet tile pouch, four black tile racks, and a silver-accented score book with official score sheets an pencil.
Finally, a Scrabble game worthy of putting on my modern glass coffee table. Although many versions of the game look fantastic, such as the “deluxe” or the “$1000 franklin mint version”, the natural wood doesn’t fit for everyone. Looks of the Onyx version are sleek and elegant, and you can read the bonus squares better than on any version; not to mention the black/silver tiles are extra sleek.
Looks aside, the feel is solid, the board has a smooth turn. The tiles fit very snug in the raised dividers. The height of the board is a silly reason to give this 1 or 2 stars. It definitely looks better flush, and puts the board lower if you play sitting on the ground at a coffee table as I do. You can put your tile holders off to the side so they don’t get hit. Every version of Scrabble I’ve ever owned didn’t have sides on the holder (including some past deluxe versions). Again, a non-issue. Learn to be less clumsy. The board is built very well. Also, marking this board down for not including a distribution list is the one of the silliest things I’ve ever read in a review. It’s like not having a hand-chart included with your poker set. You can print one off if you really want. Besides there are two charts facing opposite on the board in plain view.
Three minute timer with black sand is a nice extra. The score book is VERY nice, and comes with matching pencil which stores in the book binding. The black velvet bag is a nice size, and really allows you to shake and randomize tiles.
I also recommend the Onyx Edition Scrabble Dictionary. It matches beautifully, and it is the newest fourth edition that includes such words as Qi.
Everyone loves the timeless gameplay of Scrabble. Now, with Super Scrabble, you’ll be able to add to your fun with more tiles, more spaces and more scoring. You’ll find 200 wooden letter tiles, comprising a unique letter distribution, that permits you to make words not possible in regular gameplay (without using the blanks). The Super Scrabble gameboard has nearly twice the amount of spaces of a standard board (441 spaces compared to 225). The added room allows your words to spread further and faster than ever before. To the familiar double and triple letter and word scoring spaces are added all new quadruple letter and word scoring spaces, tempting you to reach for bigger and bigger bonuses. For two to four players.
Larger game board, extra spaces.
Twice the tiles in an all new letter distribution
Drawstring letter storage bag for wooden tiles
Super Scrabble is such a great idea that it’s surprising no one thought of it until now. Twice as many spaces, twice as many letters, bigger words (more educational and more fun), and higher scores.
The one big drawback here is that this game doesn’t come as a deluxe version with grid lines and a spinning lazy-susan base. You nudge the board and it’s likely the letters will move. The deluxe version (of the original game) is far more user friendly – if you nudge the board the letters don’t get all scrambled and those with bad eyesight can easily spin the board in their direction so they can see better. Still, I highly recommend this game.
What a great way for kids to play America’s favorite word game! Kid-sized words and colorful pictures make it fun to match letter tiles to words on the grid. Players collect scoring chips for completing words. When all of the tiles are played, the one with the most chips wins! The advanced side of the game board features an open grid where kids can create their own words, Scrabble-style! For 2 to 4 players. Game includes: 2-sided game board, 101 letter tiles, 44 scoring chips and rules.

I played this game with three kids (5, 6, and 7 )for a week and we all loved it. Some games do not translate well into junior version, but this one is well done. The board has two sides. One side, the easier side, has pre-printed words. Players try to put the letters they have picked onto the board following some very simple and straight-forward rules. There are strategies invovled (such as trying to be the one to put the last letter into a word–one gets a point for completing a word). This part is best for kids 5 to 7 or 8.
The other side of the board is similar to the regular Scrabble board (without the doubling and tripling parts). One can form words without the constraint of pre-printed words. A kid who reads and writes well (7 or 8 year olds, for example), can do well with it.
I like this game because it gives kids a taste of the Scrabble game without making them work unnecessarily too long and too hard at it. (I tried using the standard board with kids. It worked for only a little while.)
All in all, a good game to have, even with the cardboard lettering.

Play Scrabble your way! Build and control your own board with real Scrabble play. Players build words on their boards simultaneously and score just like in standard Scrabble. But after each round, players have the option to choose a replacement letter from the bag or to select one of the 12 face-up tiles on the central podium. Another exciting feature is the wild tile each time one is played, that player must swap boards with an opponent. This is a great way to thwart an opponent’s progress. When the tiles run out, the game ends and the player with the highest score wins. Includes: four individual Scrabble boards, four wood letter racks, 100 wood tiles, tile podium, cloth drawstring bag and instructions.

Spanish Scrabble plays just like the classic Scrabble, but different letter values on the tiles correspond with Spanish language usage. It’s a great way to practice Spanish as a second language! So challenge your friends to a game in Espanol! Includes genuine wood letter tiles and racks, plus a handy pouch to store tiles. Game board and instructions in Spanish. For 2 to 4 players.
I’m a Spanish teacher and I found this game in a closet when I started teaching at my current school. I only teach the first two years of Spanish. To play the game entirely in Spanish is difficult and takes forever with new learners. We play in Spanish and English. If the student plays an English word they receive the normal amout of points. If the student plays a Spanish word he/she receives double the point value in addition to any extra points offered by the squares on the board. We had a 72 point Spanish word the other day. It is great fun and the students bury themselves in Spanish dictionaries trying to find the next big word!
